Besides the truck brands, what are good made in 'Merica! brands to get individual sockets from?

We found up all our hand tools that were scattered around the house/shed/barn/trucks/various boxes and I don't have a "complete" set of anything but a Stanley 1/4 set.

For singles, check out Cripe Distributing for Armstrong, Kobalt USA, KD, Etc. and Hand Tools for Less (Sellular216 on ebay) for NAPA USA.

Also Tools Delivered for Williams USA (made by Snap-on), or SK from HJE (so you know you're getting new stock)

Good brands besides the truck sockets: Proto, Wright, SK, Williams USA and if you don't care about a warranty: Bonney, KD, Easco, Billings, New Britain

Besides pawn shops, swap meets, flea markets and GJ classifieds, there is Cripe, Harry Epstein, e-bay, Royal Supply and many other internet sites that will sell individual sockets

I'm usually in a pinch when looking for a single, and Lowes is the most convenient for me. So it's often a Kobalt.

Bob15 listed my big two Proto or Williams, but online Williams usually takes a couple weeks to get (from Zoro anyways) Proto (again Zoro) is a couple days.

Dont forget about the warrenty. Made in USA dosnt mean much if you have to ship that socked out and it had a 2 week turn around.

SK from HJE is a good deal. Individual and sets are available at discount prices from HJE. And made in the USA. Great warranty too.

I got some SK and Williams stuff......along with Craftsman being the bulk and a John Deere and a Snap on socket.

I don't care to wait for shipping. I just don't want to get a set when all I need is a couple of each drive size.

So, how often do you have to do that? I think in the last few years I’ve had to mail in warranty stuff three times. If I had to go and get a replacement locally until the warranty one gets here it wouldn’t be a problem. I don’t understand the obsession with warranty on here! Warranty should be a rare occasion unless you buy garbage tools that their only feature is good warranty

I agree especially with sockets. Don't put chrome sockets on an impact and unless there is an actual defect they should last forever unless you use them every day. Maybe a pro wears out a 10mm or a 19/21 but otherwise I too am confused about failed sockets.

Pawn shops here price sockets @.50 up to 3/4" over that they are a dollar. Brand does not effect price. Same with wrenches. There are so many used tools on the market, most folks don't put much dollar value on used tools unless they purchased them new themselves.

If I can put together a big enough order for free shipping ($50) Proto sockets at Zoro is my source for individual sockets. Prices get pretty decent with a 20% off code, one of which is going on for another day or two.

Besides the above, I also have Indestro Blackhawk, Plomb, Thorsen, Hinsdale singles that work fine. I don't really worry about the warranty, I can buy 20 or more for the price of a truck socket, which I also have and use.

Most of my chromes at home are a USA Craftsman set I bought like 10 years ago. Filled out the missing sockets (really CM, no 1/4" 10mm deep?) with stuff from Cripe.

Different stamps, but the same sockets for Craftsman, CM Industrial, Armstrong, Kobalt, Allen, KD, Masterforce, and NAPA. Some crossover with older Matco as well, but I don't know if that extends to sockets.

That's awesome. Around here that is true unless it is Craftsman or Snap-on. Then they think $10+ is reasonable.

Good advice. If less than $50 compare Toolsdelivered to eBay. It's a toss up while one will be cheaper with shipping.

Isn't Zoro flat rate at $5 for orders under $50 ? Not too bad.
