So you're going to use cheap parts from ebay for building something that is potentially dangerous if poorly made? A lot of things are expensive because of the liability and engineering behind them.

Just be mindful, most of these ebay kits are meant to be run with >36V DC. You can run them with less, but it'll do less as well. I haven't tried these kits, but I've been put off by cost of the typical options (non starter for me).

It probably won't work... as a hand held bolt heating thing... the coil is match to the unit...

It's not for every one for sure... but a lot of people use it to pre-heat stuff say it works fine... better than their home build... and cheaper than they can get parts to build one...

if you search hard enough on one of the ebay listing... there a list of things you can't do with them or you will end up destroying the unit... more specifically the MOSFET...

Following the usual logic here, the biggest problem is the price.

Add a "0' to it and buy it somewhere else other than eBay, it should be ok.

It's not like everything made, doesn't already use Asian electrical/electronic components. :headscrat

There are videos of similar setups on youtube.

Give it a go

Personally I like the ready made one for $43

LOL it's not the price... it's the type of circuity and the nature of this high frequency thing... I never finish reading that NeonJohn Post about he LC matching thing.... If I find it again, I'll posted it... the schematic I think it's opensource if I remember correctly the components more specifically those capacitors are expensive...
