What is its nearest competitor priced at? Its a usable mechanics comp. Calling it industrial is a stretch.
Good for utility, if I was painting or working the snot out of it would rather have a size bigger tank. But 2 stage is good for regulating to hose reels for mechanic tools. There are lots of schemes that try to make up for **** compressor, 2 solves a lot of problems, can reduce the size of pipe mains by 1. Can adjust the reg for losses in the secondary thru hoses and fittings to deliver full power if needed to tools. Most concern is with impacts.

That air compressor is one of their consumer grade compressors, not one of their commercial compressors. Consumer grade stuff has the cheaper Century Compressor motors like most consumer grade stuff, not the Baldor motors the commercial ones have. The pumps themselves are nice though and are unique to Sanborn made compressors. That said, the 80 gallon 5048055 version is a good step up for not much more money. 17.9 cfm and 100psi, 17 at 175.

As for country of origin, Sanborn assembles these compressors in Minnesota. Stuff comes from all over, but Sanborn makes the tanks in house. Not sure where the pump is made for them. Seems like 80% of Century Compressor duty motors come from Mexico these days.

Bassin,

From the manufacturer website:

MAT Industries, LLC, engineers and manufactures a broad line of air compressors sold under the Powermate®, PROFORCE®, Industrial Air® Industrial Air Contractor®, and Sanborn® brands as well as established private label names sold at home centers, hardware, farm co-ops, and industrial distributors across North America.

So the manufacturer makes a lot of compressors.

I have a 20+ year old Sanborn, 80 gallon 5hp that has served me very well.

In that price range Tractor Supply is selling a low end 80 gallon, 5hp 2 stage IR

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ingersoll-rand-80-gallon-5-hp-reciprocating-air-compressor

And as marctrees points out, a lot of people on GJ like the HF 60 gallon unit, which with the right coupon at the right time I think can be had in the range of $750.

Will your use be DIY or in a working shop?

Good luck finding a good fit for your needs.

This may be correct I don't know. They also have a plant in Jackson, TN, not sure what they make where, but USA for assembly.

My Sanborn is so old the Century motor was made in the USA!
