What kind of speed/direction control do you use?

Assuming this was directed to me...I use the one sold by the same company. Controls 1-5 fans with integrated reversing switch.

Yes. I use Variac transformers to control the speed of my antique fans, always interested on other posibilities.

I found these Wesinghuse Industrial fans and put one in my garage. They've been made for years are the fans that places like Home Depot put up near the ceiling and let them run for years and years. They seem to go forever and are silent running on the lower speeds. The blades are steel and won't sag. This is an example but better prices can be had on these great fans. I paid $49. for mine a few yeas ago and I think they are about $75. now. Mine is set up at about 16' in my 28 X 32' shop.

Big *** are great to, and I have a 84" in my Living Room. But they are very expensive and they are not silent. Mine has a constant hum when running.

I'm revisiting cooling my 30x40 shop this summer. We're border line on using a evap cooler as the humidity can get up here. I have a single fan now and looking at buying a larger unit, this one is a 96" fan from Global Ind. Lowe's has a 72" for $310.
