Texton impacts are decent yes, but laser etched sizes only. However their warranty is second to none and I understand they will warranty for wore off laser etching on the sizes.
I have the half inch drive and a 3/8 drive deep impacts they are decent though.

for whatever reason i also struggled with the only 4 way i tried years and years ago. Really became a problem on my snowmobile trailer which has practically no weight, the tires just spun. 🤬
Back when we walked uphill to school both ways and impact guns only ran on air, I purchased a new 1977 3/4 ton 4wd Cheby truck. I got a flat in a logging field and the included lug wrench was useless to break 8 lugs loose. My brother had a large 4 way and that took them off so we could change it.
The next day I purchased my own large 4 way at Western Auto...I still have it behind the seat of my current truck.

I have the tekton lugnut flip sockets and hold up just fine. Do car tires occasionally at work, plus go out and change out postal vehicles. No complaints and j keep a set in my truck for emergency

I like that, and I like that it's a "brand name" (I know Tekton isn't exactly a big name in tools, but they've been around a while and don't have a bad rep) Looks like you found a product that meets all my requirements (the one on the Tekton site that is). I'll let this thread ride a few days but will probably purchase that. $42 hurts a little but for what it is it's not bad. Now, what else do I need for $8 so I can get free shipping?
Tekton used to be MIT I believe. IMO they really stepped up their game. I have a decent amount of tools from them and they are very good. As far as the shipping goes, if you sign up for a free account it's free.

Helped a coworker with a flat tire the other day. Discovered that the 19mm Snap-On impact socket that I had in my Jeep had gone completely missing; I found only a bare breaker bar but fortunately there was a backup 4-way lug wrench (note to self: get it back; I think it may have been my grandfather's) in the cargo area as well. There aren't any S-O loosies on the 'bay for less than retail prices now.

The next day I went to Harbor Freight thinking I'd see if they had anything suitable but the prices there are eye watering! The four piece lug nut socket set that was $20 or thereabouts 10 years ago is now $55. They didn't have any of the "Pittsburgh Pro" impacts at all and the chrome sockets were priced higher than I remember Craftsman being last time I looked at tools (admittedly a long time ago, but still.)

So, question - is there an affordable deep socket set that is good for occasional emergency use? Would like engraved/stamped size markings not printed like most less expensive impact sockets, although I don't really care impact or chrome. Also want the hex broached at least "semi deep" not nut depth like my old Craftsman sockets because those tend to tear up stainless capped lug nuts, if I have to help someone with same (the Heep had all its lug nuts replaced with McGard for this reason.) Bonus would be if it is available at Lowe's or an auto parts store, but I'm not averse to ordering online either. Not averse to buying a set of "flip sockets" as well so I would have multiple common sizes, I'd just have to get a cheap 1/2" drive extension, but as I said, HF's prices are insane these days.

The reason I'm posting is it does appear that most of the budget/Taiwan impacts have printed sizes and also it is hard to tell from online listings how deep the broach is.

any advice appreciated...
Masterforce at Menards. 13 piece set for $40.

FWIW I've been beating up a NEIKO 02282B 1/2" Drive Impact Flip Socket Set (5 Piece Thin Wall Lug Nut Set) for a little over 7 years now. I bought two sets back in 2014. One for home and one to travel with me in the truck along with a collapsible 4way to stuff in my roadside tool bag. The set in the truck has rarely been touched but the one in the garage has gotten used every time a wheel comes off. Was $20 on Amazon back then and looks about $27 now.

I recently got the TEKTON low profile flip socket set and it's really nice. I own a couple other similar sets from other makes and this one is my favorite.

$2.00 more than the Capri, and you get 1 extra socket. (Two extra sizes)!

my lousy two cents worth:
I fought with a lug nut with a 4-way lug wrench for half an hour before I could break it loose. Some kid at a tire shop cranked it down with an air gun.
I ordered a chrome 19mm 6-point deep-well Tekton from "yourpartsplace" on ebay and bought a big 1/2" breaker from another seller. Works dandy.
Wasn't paying attention when a buddy popped the socket onto a 1/2" drive electric impact gun to remove the lug nuts from his truck, and it somehow magically survived.

YMMV

I bought a brand new larger size 4-way to use on my newer truck, then some kid slightly rounded most my lugs when I got new tires. So I gotta use a certain socket that I have to get em off LOL Should buy new lugs But I got enough stuff I'd rather buy first and I keep the socket in the truck.

Are you Americans nuts? Who cares or needs a dual sided nut socket? Or both laser and etched markings??? These are gimicky tools...
Did you really have to ask if we are crazy? Of course we are. But at least we know it (mostly).

Seriously though I do like dual sided sockets for lug nuts. With half as many sockets I can change the tires on my truck, my trailer, my track toy, and any random stranger along the side of the road that I stop to help. Because yes I do that sometimes.

We use something like this in Europe, most important is it won't scratch your nice wheels (amazon uk link below). The good brands have replaceable plastic sleeves..

I own 10 vehicles that have lugnuts; everything from a 170cc RZR to an F-450 (vehicle #11 on order). It's easier to carry one little case that covers all my needs, plus the needs of the ********* with a flat tire. It's the American way.

80% of cars here have 17mm nuts. Plus a special antitheft nut that has a socket in the car...

I don't do daily work like that, so I own sockets like you suggest in 15, 19, 21 and 22. Flips are cool but wouldn't save me time.

Techs benefit from flip sockets to get stuff done with carrying fewer tools around. One long-anvil impact and fewer sockets makes sense.
