Hi all,

I am having a 30x40 x 10.5 metal garage/barn built. Concrete floor scheduled to be poured on Friday morning early. No power to the structure yet It is 60 ft to my camp that has power. I was thinking of hanging 4 LED shop lights from trusses and stringing an extension cord out to provide light for the masons. I will then have lighting until I decide what I really want to do once power is brought out via ditch and sub panel. Does this sound like the best/quickest source of temporay lighting?
Thanks in advance

The quickest and cheapest is a rechargeable headlamp..…..I like your plan, you may want to point the lights toward the underside of the roof. My old barn was white underneath and really reflected the light.

That would work, but you could also use something like this:

Put up your permanent lighting and rent a generator for a day or so. Getting temp lighting is about the same money as the generator rental. You have to put up permanent light sooner or later. I think sooner is better.

I have the Costco 4’ twin bulb LED’s in my shop. In my 30x30 I have 4 to a quadrant, individually switched. six plus years they have been excellent. They come corded, so easy to deal with and they have their own pendant support so simple to mount temporarily. For the number of “problem pours” we see and hear of on this site, I’d light that place up. Minimize excuses;)

My shop lighting is 4 foot LED from walmart, 5000 lum. they are also able to be daisy chained ( up to 4 units ) they work well. you can easily run them off of an extension cord.

I used 2 of these on my 30' wall about 10 feet up. Drove a screw through the base into my studs. you could just use zip ties or a clamp.
I put them on the wall that my man door was on. used a computer plug strip, an extension cord to first one, a splitter to second. Extension cord from plug strip to standing dual head unit as needed. All items reusable and not worried about breaking them as i would if they were out in the middle of the ceiling (ladders, insulation, etc)

Thanks to you all.
I have 5 LED lights hanging and 3 of the really bright halogen work lights. It is like daylight in there even though it is 10pm and pouring rain. Thanks again. Will probably use some of your suggestions for permanent lighting. Feel free to help with my next question regarding control cuts to the concrete slab.
