Ziggish:
Welcome to the GJ site.
I'm afraid you're not going to get a lot of help with those pictures. We vise nuts will need clear pictures of the entire thing including both sides. There are a few vises with no numbers or lettering of any kind. Over on the vise thread, you will meet guys with an incredible depth of knowledge and experience. Check out:

www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44782

As of now, the thread is 1659 pages long!

Zig: it looks like a 100 plus pound Prentiss swivel jaw vise maybe a #23 but probably a #22 with a 6 inch wide jaw. the bolt in the swivel pin area is a red flag that the original swivel pin is broken, missing and might not be working.

can you get any more pictures? my Prentiss #22 looks like this in case you want to compare.

also if you want to stick around to learn more and maybe teach us what you know you might want to start a thread in the introduction section and here's the link.

is the vise yours or how much is the seller asking for it?

Sorry about the pics. That's all I have to work with. I ran across it on craigslist, the guy sent me a lot of pics of the vise and those are the best ones. He's asking $350 for the vise and another 650 for the stand. I believe the stand is cast-iron, he said the top plate is approximately 2 1/2 inches thick. I was trying to get an idea of how large it was. It is kind of hard getting information out of this gentlemen. The price was pretty steep but I wasn't sure how large the vice was.

He's trying to sell it as a package. But was willing to separate the vise from the stand. I couldn't tell if it was a 250 pound vise or 100 pound vise, so I had to check into it. For that kind of money I'm going to keep looking. Oh and it has 6 inch draws I believe.

Zig: if you put in your location maybe one of us with an extra big vise might have one to sell you or trade for something cool you have. can you go in your GJ profile and put in your location either city and state or general works to and not a requirement just easier for members to help if you ever need any.

also while you are in there click on Avitar and download a picture you would like to show up under your new GJ handle.

cheers
