Info on Grayvik Hammers

Had to stop at Ocean State Job Lot this morning with the old lady, of course had to swing by the tool aisle. I saw some Husky soft handle USA screwdrivers and a few Grayvik USA ball pien and claw hammers. I don't remember hearing about them so I did some research, but couldn't find anything on them. Anyone know if they have a website or have any history on them? Any companies rebadge them? Are they any good? They looked a bit cheap and cost $5-6 each.

Epstein's Vaughn / Grayvik Deal

Just got this in this afternoon. Thought I would give you guys a heads up. I haven't put anything online yet, but it should all go up tomorrow afternoon. This deal is 18 pallets of mostly Grayvik merchandise: lots of different types of hammers, pry bars and nail pullers. There is some Vaughn name brand stuff in there to, and we got a small quantity of Diamond cross pein hammers!

This is a regular once a year deal, so don't worry about Vaughn.

Basically, when they aren't satisfied with the finish of a tool, they set it aside. Once a year, when their warehouse gets full they stick a Grayvik sticker on it and sell it to someone like us.

I've looked at most of the stuff and the finishes are really nice for seconds. Everything has this shiny clear coat on it, and the wood and fiberglass handles look great.

I don't know what you're trying to say here, but Epsteins is not their website. I want to know their history. Obviously I did a Google search. None of that stuff helps me. I wouldn't have asked if I found it myself.

Grayvik is the "Brand" assigned to the factory seconds manufactured by Vaughan.

HJE is a small family-owned business that deals directly with these companies. They know the situation because they buy Grayvik hammers from Vaughn and resell them.

Same here. I have two of them and I don't see anything wrong with them.

That's amazing. I didn't notice any blems on them either and they're hammers. It is an absolute guarantee they will get dinged and knicked within the first 5 seconds of use. One thing I did notice was the handles seemed a bit cheap. Does anyone know if they use a cheaper wood with these blemished heads?

I have had a fair few Gravik's and a couple did have noticeable blems, most were fine and all get the job done, you don't mind too much if they disappear off the job unlike some other hammers. The handles are not the best but its only a matter or putting another in when they break, no wooden handle lasts forever.

You tend not to see the blems because they cover it up with the paint.

They had the long 1/4" flat head's this trip and I think they were $3 each. I had one in my hand, but put it back at the last second. I have soooo many screwdrivers and use maybe 3 of each, phillips and flat. I literally use a certain screwdriver sometimes because I never use it. That justifies the money I spent on it.

I didn't buy any of the hammers either. I have enough of those too. I actually have a small tool box filled with brand new, unused "back up" tools, as well as a totally separate "retired" tool box of all beater tools. Everything from new ratchets, screwdrivers, sockets, etc in the new box to old wooden handle screwdrivers, rusty pliers, bent allen keys, and more. I can't throw them away... It's a serious sickness....
