I think that's pretty much top dollar for a box like that, and the condition is only fair. I would not buy it unless you really like it and want it to use. There is little point in buying this to clean up and resell.

I was planning on cleaning it up for myself, I was thinking this was a 'vintage' model that was build extremely heavy duty compared to today's boxes. I wasn't sure though, so I was just asking. If it's nothing special then yes I'd agree.

A friend of mine has one in his garage just like the second one. I've been trying to buy it off him for awhile now. I love it. He paid around 500 about 2 years ago, IIRC. I'd buy it for 450. Maybe try to get him to 400 depending on condition. It seems like a very sturdy box. like I said, I love it :) He just keeps tooling for his lathe in it.

Both of them seem high as hell to me. I would give $250 tops for one of them.

Not that I'm disagreeing, but why only 250? Maybe there's just a higher demand around here, I can't find anything like that for less than 800-1k. I'd jump at a box like that for 400.

the first box is late 70's the second mid to late 80's. i'd be all over the second for $450. maybe even the first one if he would come down to $450.

if I was paying 800-1k, I would get a new, bigger box. I also don't think that one has ball bearing drawers, if it's like the one I've seen in person. I just don't think a used box that size without ball bearing slides is worth anywhere close to $450. MAYBE if it had ball bearing drawers, but I would still say it's on the high end.

If it's the same model as my friends, it has ball bearing drawers in all but the little ones at the top. all the full width drawers are BB. At least in his. And I'm 98% certain that the second link is the exact same box. I think it's at least worth checking out. Im also a MAC geek, so that may have something to do with it lol.

***EDIT*** And upon further inspection, it's not a MAC box. My friends is. But they look exactly the same, same drawer configuration, same handles. M8000? I want to say? I can't remember what the model of his is. I know his MAC version is BB, however, maybe the MATCO version is not? And you're right nissan, without BB drawers I'd probably pass too.

thery are both MB910/920 combo's. due to the age they are NOT going to be ball bearing slides.

Yeah, but they are absolutley one of the best box combos MATCO/MAC ever sold. They will put many contemporary professional ball bearing units to shame. At $450 it's a bit high, but that is a classic mechanics tool box -- I'd jump on it if it were local.

Here is a Mac that was on my local Craigslist for $350. It was gone by the time I called. Guy said if he had 30 of them he could have sold them because there were so many calls.
