Hello, I recently purchased a box full of some old blacksmith and metalworking hammers. I'm pretty new to this world, my metalworking is burgeoning hobbyist at best. Some I recognize like the flattening and fullering hammers on the ends, but some like these smaller hammers in the middle I'm not too sure on. Some seem like sheet metal/body hammers, other I have no clue, just different rounding and peening hammers? I was told the blacksmith worked in the beer industry, maybe a Farrier or made barrel hoops or something. There was more hammers I didn't buy, a very large wooden bossing mallet, a handful of of American style cross peens and such. Not pictured are two old blacksmith tongs both flat nosed. Side note that large hammer on the top is a 7lb copper mallet. Long story short, anyone know any information on the smaller types of hammers in the middle, what they are and what they'd be used for, just rounding and peening? None of the smaller ones have any markings. Hopefully this is the right place to post this, Thanks!Hammers #1.jpgHammers #2.jpgHammers #3.jpgHammers #4.jpgHammers #5.jpgHammers #6.jpg

The two in the middle are typically known as bumping or finishing or planishing hammers. The other two I've seen called polishing hammers.

Awesome, thanks. The polishing hammers are pretty cool. There was a half made copper bowl mixed with all the stuff too, would explain the large wooden bossing mallet and these smaller polishing hammers.
