Infrared Heater for 2 Car Garage?

I've been looking into heating the garage. I'm thinking a gas infrared type ceiling or upper wall mounted unit is the way to go. However, all the units I see, look to require too much clearance from the ceiling to be realistic in my garage(10 foot ceiling) or they're not powerful enough to heat the whole garage. Can you guys recommend any? Or maybe perhaps recommend a different type? I do a lot of wood working so dust is an issue.

The garage is 18x24 (432sq ft) and it's insulated. So I dont need anything too crazy. Just want something that is safe and keeps the garage at a comfortable temp in the winter.

The idea of the tune heaters is they work in a large open area .. direct heat to where you are. In a closed space there are better options IMO

That's why you see them in auto service areas .... also many of those areas also have another system for nigh when no one is there

A few companies make a low clearance version. I really prefer a tube heater over forced air.

10' is getting pretty low to use one though. I've pretty much given up the thought of using one in my garage with only 9' ceiling.

Yea, Im kind of coming around to the same conclusion. I'm considering a potbelly stove at this point, but I sure hate to lose all that floor space.

My neighbor has 2 wall mount infrared heaters in a 2.5 car garage. They mounted on the wall. They look to be 1 foot by 3 foot? Anyways, he woodworks in there and they definitely do make it feel warmer!

Solid fuel heater in a garage or shop has it own issue discussed many times ( code and insurance) come up all the time.

Ceiling mounted forced air heater is the common garage shop heater o f choice. Prices start at $350 plus venting. Pro install would obviously be added if needed.

The wall mount infrared will work, they are unvented, which creates another issue. Infrared tube heaters require 11-12’ ceiling in most cases as mentioned. 12” top clearance and 54” to the objects like cars etc.
