Infrared laser temp guns

I bought a cheap harbor freight laser temp gun that's reads off the trigger 1 is second temp. Then have to wait 30minutes before being able to get another reading. Is anyone familiar with these I need a good one that'll allow me to read temps while shifting lazer pointed vs just grabbing the 1 second laser pointed temp and have to wait for it to readjust 30mins before I can grab another reading. Its a centech harbor freight grabs one memory reading off the infrared laser pointed bat.

That's the same one I have, if I hold the trigger down it will continue to take a reading. If I let go of the trigger it will hold the temp reading and I just pull the trigger to read another temp without waiting. Sounds to me like you have a faulty gun. I would take it back and swap it out with another.

I was able to get a 1 second pit reading today's BBQ 300f it read from outside pit 5ft away and a house ceiling fan area roof reading of 116f but wouldn't adjust or vary just split second readings. I took it back into my window u it ac room 70-80 degrees and it started jumping around 700s split second but upon retriggering reads H i l or what ever that means

I just bought the Cen-tech IR thermometer at HF a few days ago, in the sale flier for $19. (Item #61894) it works well for what it is, you should be getting a constantly updated reading as long as you hold the trigger. It will then hold the last reading and high reading when you release the trigger, resetting and actively measuring when pulling the trigger again. I checked mine against a calibrated thermocouple and it's within 5 degrees or so. Keep in mind these aren't the most precise, 8:1 I believe, so if you're measuring something only 24 inches away, the spot diameter is 3 inches and they don't read well at all off reflective surfaces. Sounds like you got a dud, I'd return it.

Ya get what you pay for.
The laser is an aiming device to point to the center of the measuring area.
The laser has nothing to do with temperature measurement.
The farther away from the surface, the larger the measuring area.
The detector inside the gun measures any infrared radiation it picks up, compensating for its own temperature.
They are pretty useless on shiny aluminum.
Cheap ones have no emissivity adjustment.

I believe I was having.military UFO static. I was able to return the 27$ harbor freight and buy a ryobi from home depot 30$. Thanks guys. Was to check rc car engine temps with bigger battery. Upon the kitchen counter read 76 same as central ac thermostat reading so I believe ryobi will be fine just has limit of 600f I believe.
