Looking to get one of these to take temps of my floor before I coat it with epoxy. Anyone have a recommendation? I need one ASAP.

I've seen the Craftsman handheld, a Raytec and some Flukes. The good thing about the Craftsman is that I can go to Sears and buy it tomorrow. Not sure if it's the best of the bunch though.

Any recommendations?

I doubt you would be dissiapointed with any of them. The Fluke would definately be top notch but tend to be fairly pricey in my opinion. I have a Raytech and have no problems with it. Adam

All of these IF thermometers operate on the same principle. The difference between brands/prices are in the quality of the components, area read at various distances and whether or not it has a pointing laser. For general home shop use, just about any of them will do the job.
I have a 3M marketed unit I bought for checking electrical equiptment mounted near the roof of a factory building. It reads a 1" diameter "spot" at a distance of 30'.Mine was over $250 at the time.Do you nead this resolution for home/shop use?If not,you can buy the Craftsman for a lot less money.

What happened to the 3 gear and cool smilies?

I have a HF one for my powder coating and it seems to be one of the few things I bought from them that really works. I believe it was 50 on sale.

Hey!

Use the ones you can buy at Hobby Shops. they're made for RC engines, but seem to give a good reading on everything. the best part? around $30

I use the cheapest one they sell at Sears to measure tire temps and it has worked fine. If there's one feature I wish it had it would be a laser pointer. But since I really only use it for that one purpose I have learned to get around that.

For measuring floor temps it should work great.
