I am finishing my small garage addition of 20x30 in Minnesota. I have 12' ceilings and a planning a steel ceiling liner with blown in cellulose insulation. I am leaning towards a 10' u-type infrared heater. It weighs about 100lbs.
My concern is the added weight on the ceiling. The trusses are rated at 10psf dead weight on the bottom cord. I would have to run the heater parallel to the trusses so the weight would be on one or two trusses.
I was thinking I could tie several trusses together with 2x6 beams and support the heater from the 2x6's that span several trusses.
I might be overthinking this, any thoughts?
