I just paid $2500 for 2- 9x8 overheads with high lift and roof pitch kits. 7 years ago I paid about $2000 for 2-9x8 with high lift. Took me about 4 hours to install all by my lonesome.

Just so you know, there has not been a single confirmed death report in the US from a torsion spring install in at least the last 50 years. No hospital records, no news stories, no police reports, no lawsuits, no obituaries. I'm not saying it's not dangerous, but no one is out there dying from installing a torsion spring. I actually kinda enjoy winding them.

I did my own torsion spring winding on my garage door, and wasn't super worried about it. I took precautions like wearing a full face shield and standing in such a way that a rod that went crazy was unlikely to hit my face or head. I am not sure the full face shield would have helped much as a rod that got away might rip the shield right off my face.

Once I was about two thirds through winding I had to stop about every 1/4 turn or two to rest as it got really hard to push the rod. Now, my arms are not in great shape strength wise so it is probably just me.

I OVER bought a commercial level all glass and aluminum 9x8 garage door this year. It was a splurge and I knew it would be a big number. After trying local standard quality suppliers and being disappointed with the service and information they provided, I sought a commerical door vendor, who was great to work with but pretty high. I gave just at $6500 for the all glass door and jackshaft lift. They wanted an additional $1200 to install it. I suspect it would have been more if I would have hired them as the install was a little unique and customized to my needs. I did not mind the price of the door as it was of very high quality and over built, however, the labor seemed to be very high for two guys and maybe a day of work.

It did take me about a month to install it:)
