How could both of my 20V lithium batteries go bad at the exact same time? Let me explain. I have a 1/2" drive IR 20V impact wrench that has worked perfectly for several years. It has seen only very light use, never abused. Now all of a sudden both batteries throw the same code, 6 flashes of the red light = over current, high current detected, battery may be defective. WTH! What does this mean exactly and how could both batteries go bad at exactly the same time?

Wonder if the batteries have a built-in expiration date, similar to what smoke alarms have. 7 years, and done.

I read of Makita batteries that have discharged too far can have issues with the charger refusing to charge them so it might be a similar problem.

Did you ever let the battery go empty? Li-Ion batteries should be stored at above 50% of charge level.

An update on my battery issue. I e-mailed the IR help center and they replied that it was probably a bad charger. (Good call Skin)So I'll order one up and report back.
