Hey guys... Sorry if this is the wrong place for this.
I bought an older 2340 compressor a while back, and I'm just now getting around to clearing out a spot for it, running pipe and wire, etc.
The compressor runs great, makes pressure without an issue, and is surprisingly quiet. However, I noticed a small leak after the compressor shuts off. And, to be clear, it's not the unloader (or whatever the semantics experts want to call it).
I get the initial Purge from the unloader when the motor stops, but then there's a very faint hiss coming from under the motor/pump mounting plate. I was able to trace it back to where the unloader tube connects to the main tank inlet. I assume that's the check valve (main pipe from pump comes in to the top, unloader out the front, blowoff out the back)?
If I wiggle the small tube, the leak gets louder or quieter. I assumed the flare on the time was damaged, so emptied the tank and pulled the tube off. The flare wasn't in the greatest shape; so I cleaned it up, and reattached the tube, and the problem persists.
Then I got to thinking..... Should that tube even have any air flowing through it after the unloader purges the cylinder? Is my check valve actually the problem?
Any insight from the more experienced is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
