We have that one at work, it is very powerful. I would much rather use an air impact because it is heavy you have to go switch batteries and it is too big. As you know it is hard to drag an air compressor with that is big enough to power a good air impact every where you go. So if you go cordless this is a beast.

I own the IR W7150 and it's an amazing gun. What do you plan on doing with it? As a wheels and suspension gun it's fine, but if you plan to do exhaust work, engine work, brakes, etc. i would look at the 3/8 gun. I also own the milwaukee fuel 2654-22ct and i use this gun the most. I had the IR for a year or two before i got the milwaukee, and now i don't really take the IR out unless i'm doing a tire rotation or working on a plow frame, etc. The milwaukee can do tire rotations but i think the W7150 is more suited. The batteries last quite a while.

I only want to use it for minor work orders, but 1/2" & 3/4" air impact is what I use most of the time. How is the battery life?

I have both the 1/2" and 3/8" models and love 'em. All the power I need, and they last a long time. I can take off all 8 lugnuts on all four wheels of a 1-1/4 ton truck, pull undercarriage protection plates, then reverse the procedure to put it all back together and only use maybe 1/4 charge.

I also like the way it feels - very nice in the hand, and well balanced. I have compared my W7150 (1/2") to the newest Milwaukee high-torque, and I think the Milwaukee has a 'clunkier' feel and it feels like it has less power. And FWIW I am not a Milwaukee hater - quite the contrary. I have about twenty M12 tools. And I used to have the high-torque M28 impact until the IR replaced it. No comparison there...the Milwaukee spanks the Milwaukee.

I have a second battery, but have yet to use it.

I used an IR 2135QtiMax before buying my W7150. I feel like the W7150 is a bit stronger, but it's also a bit heavier. It is a well balanced gun though. I love the anvil brake on it. If you usually use a 1/2 or 3/4 i'd say go for the W7150. I don't think a second battery is necessary for a work day, just throw the battery on the charger at the end of the day if it's getting low. They charge up pretty quick. You can't use the compact battery on the W7150, but you can use the one that it comes with on tools that come with the compact.

I just got my new one! Very powerful. I disassembled a entire 24v cummins and had charge left over. I also have the new CT750 snap on, the IR is far superior IMHO.

For trucks I've found cordless impacts to be useless... Sold my Snap On because it never got used. By the time you have enough power to break a bolt loose the stupid thing doesn't fit. When they can make cordless the same power and size I'll think about it. Put some swivels on my air guns and bought a Parker push-lok whip hose.

Which Snap On gun did you have? The IR is considerably more powerful than the Snap On. It's still a big gun, but it's more compact than the previous Snap On model. The IR is the first cordless gun I've used that is as powerful as some of the more powerful 1/2" air guns on the market. I see a lot of guys using their cordless guns for suspension work or anything that requires getting underneath the truck.

I bought the 1st version 14.4v IR 3/8" drive impact when they came out, in like 2005. It had been great I only got it with a single Lithium battery after about 5 years of regular use it was getting weak (not the battery) so I bought a Snap On 3/8" 14.4v. It seems to me to be a better product, more compact and stronger its now 5 years old and the NiCad batteries were not holding a charge like they used top. I bought new replacement batteries and rebuilt my battery pack using 3000mA batteries the originals are only 2400mA. That made a huge difference.
I work in a heavy equipment/truck shop and cordless impact works great in this enviroment, sure their not as light nor as strong. I like the fact that they don't blow a bunch of dust in the air like a traditional air powered impact does. Someday I will sell my IR, move the Snap On to the home shop and buy a upgraded cordless for work. I will be looking very hard at what IR and Milwaukee have to offer. I think a brushless motor will be the way to go.

CT8810... Lot's of power but size and weight make it useless to me :dunno: IR 3/8 Ti with a nice hose fits my needs a lot better.

I would say the W7150 is as powerful as any 1/2" air gun. It's an animal. Everyone laughs when they see the "battery tool" come out but the bolts keep coming

I've got 3 W7150's I bought the first one approx 2 years ago. We have an application that uses a bolt that's torqued to 360ft/lbs. These guns handle it no problem very strong and reliable.
The only issue I've had is that they break sockets. I've never had any other impact break Snap On impact sockets but these do it regularly
I don't know if it's the power or the way they hit

I have the IR W7150 and Milwaukee's new m18 fuel 1/2" and they are every bit as powerful if not more than the best 1/2" air guns.

If that's true wow. It has been my experience that the battery powered impacts while very powerful they don't even equal a strong air powered impact.

I've got both Milwaukee and IR. I love them both. I've got the IR cordless ratchet and W7150 and the Milwaukee 3/8 cordless fuel impact and fuel drill driver. They all have their place. I only bought the IR because you can limit torque, great for small bolts and the plastic caps that go over lug nuts.
