Die grinders use a LOT of air (CFM). Same with cut off wheels, inline or DA sanders or sandblasters. Probably need 5 hp minimum.

+1, you'll need a true 5HP compressor which would be rated at about 17 SCFM output if you plan on use DA sander, die grinder, etc.

^ ^ Too small for your needs, for pretty BIG money, and lackluster quality.

You WILL need two compressors in your life long-term. Settle on smaller portable for minor uses (airing tires, brad nailing, 110v portable to take to rental house, etc). You could settle on this upright IR as that "portable" compressor to get you by for a while (don't recommend).

However LONG-TERM, be on constant CL lookout for quality 5 HP 60 gal compressor for permanent shop compressor with a copper or black pipe steel airline system.

Update GJ Profile with location and other GJer's can help you locate a good one.

I own the 2HP model and it works with some air tools, but it takes forever to air up. I hate mine....Limited to what I can do with it. might be ok to air tires up, but as far as die grinders and sanders its junk. Go bigger...
