I'm looking for a new set of 1/2 drive metric deep impacts. Any information on Ingersoll Rand impacts? I like the finish of the sockets, and they have a very high customer rating on Amazon. I doubt they are American made, but I haven't seen many impacts that are.

I have those in Metric Deep and Shallow . Made in Taiwan. The only thing I don't like is the skipping of sizes. Other than that to me it was a good buy.

The problem with IR impact sockets is that I have never seen them available individually. If you want to add missing sizes or expand, you're out of luck. For these reasons, I think Grey Pneumatic, Sunex, or Gearwrench are a better choice for the imported impact sockets.
If you want US made, Proto has a very broad range of metric deep impact socket sizes.

All my 1/2" impact sockets are IR. They are well made (in Taiwan) and have a nice semi-glossy finish, but I don't use mine often enough to determine how durable the finish is under heavy use. They do look nice, however I suspect the finish will start to look worn under heavy use based on experience with other tools that have a similar finish. The socket sets come in a nice but useless molded plastic case that I've discarded. I did find a source to purchase single sockets, so I was able to fill my Hansen socket organizers. I went with Chicago Pneumatic, Craftsman and Grey Pneumatic for all my 3/8" impact sockets, which have the dull finish.

I, too, have a full set of the 1/2" drive. I've used them for 5-years now at home and have had zero issues with them.

If you want a complete set, check out the SUNEX brand. Chrome Molybdenum and just as tough as any socket on this planet. Lifetime warranted.

I think IR impact sockets have been coming from Taiwan for a long time.

My 3/4" drive impacts are IR made in Taiwan and they're 15 years old. To tell the truth, I was more than a little disappointed back then when I opened the box and saw Taiwan, but they've held up very well in fairly heavy use.

Finish back then was standard dull black oxide instead of glossy. The finish has taken a bit of a beating, but is no worse than on my 1/2" MACs and Snap-Ons of similar age.
