Is there any real difference between then 2115Ti/2235Ti and 2115QTi/2235QTi?

Especially performance and volume? The latter doesn't really matter.

I want to replace my stolen Snap On stuff with basic Stuff yet good quality. A nice small 3/8" impact and a decent 1/2" one that can bust off a frozen bolt so decided on the latest IR series, it's gonna be along with an IR air ratchet and some other air tools.

General tools be cordless Rigids and Yard tools all gas powered.

Miniscule power loss and in exchange you keep your hearing.

The only reason they aren't all quiet models is noise sells since guys associate it with power.

The only real difference I've been able to find in my research is that the Q is quieter. I don't remember the Q series being any less powerful, at least not in any amount that truly matters, but it's been a while so I could be wrong.

I decided on getting the QTi because quieter is always better in my book. Haven't ordered them quite yet, but I will soon.

Power loss is so small with the QTI's it's not worth mentioning. The QTI is so much quieter, it would be my pick every time. ( if I was going to own one, that is). I hate loud Impacts and if you had an MG725 you know what I'm talking about.

I had 2 brand new 2135QTis and didn't found they had any power, the third time I said "give me the loud one" no problems since.

There's not supposed to be much of a difference between then, I know for the 2235 it's 30ft lbs so it's entirely possible I got two dud Qtis in a row.

Get the quiet 3/8 and the regular 1/2. You use the 3/8 for normal everyday stuff and the 1/2 when you need power... that's what i did and I'm happy i did so.

I have the 2135QTi and the extra cost to get the quiet version is one of the best $35 that I have ever spent. Every time I use it I marvel at how quiet it is. Since I use it at home mostly in the driveway, and don't want to annoy my neighbors any more than necessary, it it well worth it IMO.

And if you are using it in a shop where loud noise echoes around off of all of the hard surfaces, it is also nice. At middle-age I still have very good hearing and plan to keep it that way - my hearing is one of my best diagnostic tools.

I have the quiet one as well and love it... I bought the quiet one because I live in a typical suburbia neighborhood and don't want to irritate the neighbors. It is a nice gun I like it. And it is nice and quiet. It has plenty of power for what I need it for mainly taking off Lugnuts for basic maintenance stuff

I have the normal 2135 and it's not too loud. It's harder to tell how much you are tightening with the quiet one, that might just be me though.

I own a 2135ti and I purchased the rear housing for to turn it into a qti. No noticeable loss in power and the thing is very quiet now. Next time I'm in the market I will definitely be purchasing another Ingersoll Rand impact and it will be the quiet model.

I currently own a 2335ti, does anyone hear think it'd be worth it to pony up some cash and buy the quiet model? I use it daily at work, and I'm scared of losing my hearing over time. Obviously the impact isn't the only factor. I just think any little bit can help, it's in my hands most of the day.

ABSOLUTELY! I am an occasional user, and I have no regrets about spending the extra $35 (or so) on the quiet model. It's so quiet that I can use it in the evening outside in a residential area and not bother my neighbors.

Do you need the 2235 for absolutely everything you do?

I have the 2235TI (not the quiet version) because when it comes out, I want all the power it has. Yeah, it's only 20 ft-lbs or so of difference, but I'll take the extra 20, because again, when it comes out, it means I need everything.

Otherwise I use my M7 NC-4630Q mini 1/2 impact. Over 500 ft-lbs of real life torque and is super quiet at 85 decibels. Lighter also is easier on the arms day in and out.

Probably not, I use my Milwaukee cordless 1/2 impact a lot but that's even louder honestly. I don't mind weight it's just the noise that's killing me. I have a compact impact that you mentioned. Maybe it's time to use that more.

I'd choose a QTi over the regular one any day. Even if it had that much more power.

My MG325 though, when I got it. It had the muffler installed and it felt weak. Took it off 5 minutes later and it woke it up. Maybe I should've gave it more of a chance? :dunno:

Money wise you'll be better off buying the quiet housing and motor felt, then transfer everything over. Will run you about $60. Between reselling a used impact and buying new again you'll probably lose more than that.

Alternately get yourself some 3M hearing protection or a box of howard leight max.

Buy what ever you like. Either way you should be using hearing protection with most pneumatic tools.

Personally I would go for the most torque, and wear hearing pro.

So much this.

That is why I bought the normal 2235 (for power) and the quiet 2115. I use the 2115 for just about everything. It is so much smaller and lighter than the 2235. On the rare occasion I need to take off a very stubborn fastener, I take out the big boy and zip it off... then back to the 2115 for everything else.

OP: Any reason you wouldn't want to go 3/8" for your main gun? The smaller size really makes a difference when using it all day.

After rebuilding many ingersoll guns the only difference is a piece of felt over the top of the turbine housing and a plastic foam pellet in the exhaust

i have the qti 2135max and love it. So nice when working all day in a shop which echoes. Can talk without stopping. Working under vehicles is less irritating. It sounds under powered compared to a louder gun, but it's not.

The older models only had scotch bite in the exhaust, the newer models have a little more going on in the handle.
