Inherited a few classic tools

Well I recently inherited quite a few tools from my wife's grandfather. He was a sailor during WWII, and after the war ran an auto repair shop. I believe he also worked on heavy machinery based on the size of some of the tools we found. I haven't finished moving everything to my garage yet, but here are some of the more interesting pieced so far:

Snap-On Ferret F70N ratchet. Most of the chrome is gone, but I really dig the patina. I took it apart and cleaned the grime out, and it works much better now but still feels pretty 'mushy'. Does anyone knw if I could still get a rebuild kit for these? I would like to give it to my brother-in-law to start off his tool set.

Some big wrenches:
Thorsen 1 1/16" Combination
Plomb 1/2" x 7/16" double square drive box end wrench
Plomb 1 3/8" Combination. This one feels really light for its size for some reason.

Top to bottom:
Plomb T-Handle
Snap-On SG-12 1/2" drive extension with spinning handgrip
Snap-On S20 1/2" drive ~22" long extension

I don't think so, but I will check. I haven't brought any of the sockets back yet, and there are quite a few larger size Plomb industrial finish.

"Industrial" finish? You mean Cadmium? (Grey powdery looking stuff) Those could be EXACTLY what I was talking about!

The F70n ratchet can be rebuilt with no issue. Any dealer should have a 70's era ratchet kit on the truck, and the kit will fit it with no problems at all. An email to snap on these days will get you a silly response that they dont have such a kit, but the deal is that they used the same dimensions for over 30 years, well into the 70's for the ratchet components.

If you do have a dealer rebuild it on the truck, be sure to ask that he doesnt change the screws or reverse lever to the new one. The new one looks different, and wont have the brass in it, and the screws will look new. If the pawl is fine, leave it. The new center gear will be black oxide, so polish the center of the gear so it matches the rest of the ratchet, and it should then all work as new.

I love that slide hammer and that snappy extension. Too cool.
I always want to grab the extension when applying heavy torque...why don't they still make these??!

Elroy recently acquired a similar Lufkin tape as well. The only difference appears to be the chrome clad tape

It's interesting to see the variations in how these old things were built
