My wifes Grandpa passed away a few years ago, when they were going through his estate she snagged some tools for me. They have been sitting in a box and homer bucket since then, buried in back of garage behind a bunch of things. Finally got around to going through them.
Most items are USA Craftsman. Handful of Snap-On, MAC, Proto, and some foreign stuff.
Nothing metric in the collection at all. All SAE... Means I gotta find some Metric tools now..
I took a few pics and figured I would post them up for fun...

The two big combo wrenchs on the left are imports 1-3/4" Duracraft and 1-1/2" unknown.
Multiple 19/32 & 25/32 open end, had never heard of that size before, but sounds like old Ford stuff used it. He was a Ford assembly line worker and had an old Ford truck for years, so that explains those I suppose..

(Tool holders I just bought yesterday) I now have a decent 1/2 drive collection!
Noteworthy here are 8-point 7/16th (3/8"). 3 or 4 sockets had magnets in them. Some Proto and Snap-Ons in there, Proto ratcheting adapter is pretty cool piece (under the 1")

Knipex 1098 in the lower right, Snap-On HCP46BP hose clamp pliers next to that, Craftsman locking pliers top left, the 3 on the pink tape are Proto, green needle noses just say SWISS..

Snap-On pressure gauges. Not sure what they are for (anyone?) I wiped the oil off them, outside of case is in bad shape (bottom is quite rusted), but inside looks nice, probably because of all the oil it had in it.. Snap-On 1/4" Inch Pound torque wrench. Up top is a Diamond U tire inflator, goes up to 100PSI on 2 different gauges, unfortunately the 50-100 side appears to be missing. Cant find anything online about it, will likely take better pictures and email it to them asking for information. Would love to get it working.

Starting to research how to best clean these guys up. The common ones will get used, the odd-balls will be in tool box just in case.

Thanks for looking :)

All that Snap-On, Mac and Proto stuff is **** - I'll take it all off your hands for $20 bucks. ;)

Great collection of tools there bro, and it's cool to hear the story behind them too. I hope you keep them in the family and pass them on to your kids some day! Welcome to GJ!

I may be new here, but know well enough that they are worth keeping, even if in the scrap tool pile ;).. SWMBO said nothing can be sold...

Nice old time home mechanic tool collection. If those tools could only talk....
No doubt they have good stories! Unfortunately I was not there to sort through the tools, wife had to do it for me. She did well though! Also unfortunate, there was family drama, as is usually the case in a death it seems, and the rest of the stuff that was supposed to head my way is no longer coming, had a roll around chest and few tools with cases (drills? etc?)

Compression testers.
But for what? I was thinking cylinder compression (replace spark plugs), but there was a lot of oil in there, and the other adapters seem small. The main value is in Kilopascal..

I see a few metric adjustable wrenches in there

Did you also spot the diesel spark plug socket?? . . ;)

Seriously, hope you know that wife is a Keeper in trying to save some tools to some day get passed on to your kids.

What all tools went to other family members in the "drama" dispute?? Which "vocal party" won out??

She definitely is a keeper
Not sure what all I missed out on. He was living with one of her Uncles for many years, but he willed her dad to take care of his estate. There wasn't much to it, but once property was sold the majority of (small ammount of) proceeds were used to help a different uncle that needed the help... Didn't go over well with the uncle who GPa was living with... So long story short, the rest of the tools stayed where they were.. Whenever they work things out they might be up for grabs again, but who knows...
I can't complain about getting any tools for free, especially quality ones like these, if more come later even better, but I still feel lucky to have these.. Easily doubled my tool collection..

Always sad to have to inherit items, but it sure is nice for them to be with someone who will put them to some use! Great little collection.

I inherited a slew of tools and 2 craftsman cabinets/chests from my FIL including some odd sizes. I think the multiple 19/32 & 25/32 open end wrenches are also subs for some metric sizes.

Seems every time he couldn't find a specific size allen wrench, he bought another set. About 15 sets altogether, mostly craftsman, mostly SAE, mostly missing one wrench.
