I recently got my hands on an 18 piece Industro socket set. These sockets are the style that are supposed to work on both SAE and metric fasteners including 6pt and 12pt, external torx, spline, etc. I've always been curious if this style socket actually worked. I haven't had the chance to use the set much yet, so I'll reserve judgement for a bit on the function. According to the packaging, COO is Taiwan.
I can, however, give some of my initial impressions:
The plastic case is nice and seems solidly built. I'm thinking that this would be a nice travel set and the case seems like it should survive that life.
Chrome on the sockets and extensions is some of the best I have seen. I don't have a ton of high quality tools to compare to, but I do have some Snap On, SK, Williams and these seem to have as good or better of a finish.
I do like the knurling on the extensions and sockets as this is always handy when trying to turn these by hand.
Markings on the sockets are stamped and clear, but a bit tricky to pick up the size quickly as the socket lists the SAE/Metric/External Torx sizes all in a row. I tried a few SAE and Metric 6pt bolts and they seemed to be gripped fairly well by the sockets. I have yet to try 12pt, torx, or rounded bolts.
Extensions seem solid and snapped into the ratchet and sockets solidly.
The ratchet is 36 tooth. Chrome didn't seem quite as good as the rest of the parts, but still pretty good. The plastic handle feels a bit cheap. I was worried that it would be uncomfortable, but during the initial use, it doesn't seem too bad. The internals are completely dry as you can see in the attached picture.
I'm going to use this some more in the near future and have also asked some technicians at work to try it out so I can give some real world feedback of how it performs.
Initial impression is that it is a decent set and would be a good, compact travel set. I'll reserve judgement on how well it works until I have more chances to use it.
Sorry for the less than stellar quality of the pictures as it was from my phone.
