I'm looking to purchase an inner tie rod tool and I am on the fence between the Mayhew universal and this blue point two in one style. The blue point is very much like the Mayhew but it looks all mettle instead of some plastic and I'm thinking the the two different size adapters might actually work in it's favor. But the price for the blue point is almost triple the Mayhew one.

Anyone use the blue point one and like it. I'am not interested in the crows foot style so that's not an option thanks.

The blue point one I am referring tohttp://store.snapon.com/Tie-Rod-Removal-Installation-Tools-Set-Tie-Rod-Tools-Universal-P650551.aspx

If Im not mistaken the mayhew is all metal as well. Ive been around to long to buy any of these new fancy inner tools. Im still using the crows foot ones and as long as they continue to work Im not buying another

My boss has the crows feet one it works just fine the new one are supposed to be universal no crows feet to deal with. So essentially they are faster... By a few second. I don't own one and I hate to borrow more than I should. Ive seen the matco rebranded mayhew and the cap is all plastic.

Both of these will cover what I work on. I an aiming at that blue point one right now because it comes in a case and snap on comes to the shop if I have to send the Mayhew in for repairs it will sit in my box and piss me off when I need it. Heck my half broken small on tools are lucky to get armies if they need sent out, usually I wait until they are full blow useless.

Lol I'm typing from my phone and apparently I didn't skim what I wrote. I was saying basically my snap on tools often don't get warrantied unless their full on broke. Or unless they have a direct swap on the truck. Its hard to do without some tools so sending something in can be a bother.

I have the Harbor freight version of the inner tierod tool, crow's foot variant. Works well enough for what it is.

I can't justify spending big $$ on a tool that I'll use once a year, or at least that one specifically.

I have the lisle crows foot one and it works fine on tie rods with flats. The mayhew is supposed to be good for tie rods with flats and without flats. It gets good reviews from everything I read and if I had to do it over I would have just got the mayhew. I might end up getting the mayhew next time I have one with no flats. Or will look at one of the other ones made for no flats.

I have this, works very very well, even on round tie rod ends:

Who makes that? I"ve never seen that particular one before. I need to pick up something for the tie rods with no flats and that one looks pretty nice.

Ive gotten by for a very long time using knipex for round tie rods. And the crows foot style for normal ones. Ive used the mayhew one in the past. Does its job but the insert is plastic
