Owner, not a mech, but I try, purchased a obdII reader with internet access. My bad. Wifes 1999 camry with 48k miles check engine light, can you fix it?
Ok I'm old, points and dwell I'am ok. PO441 code, hot line says have a nice day, any suggestions. I know many or you pay your bills by doing this everyday. That said any suggestions?

Code PO3441 is for an EVAP or the fuel supply system. There's a ton of things that can cause this code from the EVAP module / purge valve, fuel lines, hose restriction, and of all things- a simple gas cap failure.

Yes, the gas cap can fail. It's more common than you'd think. If you forget to properly seal the gas cap (2-3 clicks once closed), then the system can't pressurize the system and the code gets registered. You can simply reseat the gas cap, clear the code and go on. Or replace the gas cap if it's getting older- it seems these last about 5 years or so.

That's the cheap option. Beyond that, it will require a shop to dig into it further.

If you find the cap was loose, just unclamp the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. It should clear the code.
