Im looking to add a drill press, dont have bench space so im looking at either a small press on a stand (least desirable) or a floor standing unit.

i dont need commercial grade - light to medium metal work (im not a woodworker).

with that in mind, im interested in experiences (both brand and size) -
i expect craftsman or delta or porter (lowes) would suit me fine...but im open to suggestions....maybe even something from northern tool (jet/fox or nt) as they are close by as well.

mail order is also an option.

Well I would see which one can do a low RPM since you will be using it for metal work, just because of how slow you are supposed to go with metal.

I recommend that you get the biggest one you can
the bigger they are the better they are made (generally)
and the more versitile it is
the little benchtop models are not more than 'toys' in my opinion

there are some older bench top models that arent really bench top sized. they really are like full size presses cut down for bench use.

im still mad for not buying a walker-turner a few weeks ago. i am very attracted to w-t becuase they were made in my town
