inquiry on cutting off posts flush with concrete

There is a pole shed with a concrete floor here on the farm that the original purpose was for baby calves in individual pens until around 3 months old.

The floor is concrete, but there are a lot of corner post style round posts in the concrete that were for pen dividers. I would like to see about cutting them off flush or as close to the concrete as possible to improve usability of the shed for storage, projects etc. and if I ever decide to raise calves again there are better styles of pens to use from a ventilation, sanitation and ease of cleaning standpoint.

So... thoughts on how to cut those posts off?

Sawzall with a 12” long 6 tooth wood blade. Blade will flex and run flat against the floor.

If you can get a wiggle out of them? you may be able to pull them right out. Be careful though that you don't crater the concrete by pulling to hard. Otherwise I agree with the psot above, use a sawzall.

they are not going to wiggle out. would be nice if they would....

They go 4 ft into the ground below the concrete..... to deal with frost heaving problems in this part of the world.

You could cut them off mostly flush, as close as you can, and then use a demo hammer with a sharpened chisel to remove enough to get below the floor level. Fill with mortar.

Then finish nice and clean with flap wheel on grinder.

Wooden posts, probably somewhere between 8 and 12 inches diameter at the concrete.

Lol. That will not only take hilariously long, but will be wildly expensive.

This is how I've done it.

Once you’ve cut them flush. Get a 2” or so forstner bit and drill out to whatever depth, chisel out the little pieces and then grout.

Plow them off with a skid steer. Should take about 5 minutes to do them all.

You brought back BAD MEMORIES ! My son bought a repossessed house during the Recession. It had some bad fencing and 2 falling down wooden decks. Over the period of 2-4 years we removed about 50 fence posts/PT footings and the lumps of concrete they were set in. More than a couple were done with brute strength.

I am too old to do that again !
