Can someone look at my thread below and tell me what I am doing wrong. I used "manage attachments" for my pictures and they show up as thumbnails. I would like to have these inserted into the thread as full images. Did it do this because the images are too big or is there a different method. I need to have the images hosted on GJ as I don't use an image web hosting site. Thanks.

You can host your picture here in an album. Load the pictures in the album then use the BBS address in your post and the pictures will show full size. I'm just learning this and have a post in the TEST forum where I figured this out. You will find albums in your User CP Top left of the page. Now if I could just figure out how to pull the caption over with it.

I use OneDrive from Microsoft to host my photos. I actually have an app installed on my phone (as I take almost all my photos on my phone) and it automatically uploads them to the website. I then need to download on my PC and re-size them, using MS Paint, for posting and put them back on OneDrive, set sharing to "public" ant then I can link them into a thread.

I could give more specific instructions if you're interested. I know it sounds complex but, it is not bad once you do it a couple of times.

I agree. About half of the photos I have posted here over the years are hosted in Photobucket. I've used my GJ albums for the rest and it is FAR easier.

This is convoluted and requires added steps but it works and does not require another web site.

  • Upload your pictures using Manage Attachment
  • Preview your post
  • Double click the thumbnail. This should open the picture up in a new tab/window. You can also try right click and Open Image in New Tab/Window.
  • Copy the URL from that tab/window.
  • Go back to the original window where you were entering your text and attached pictures
  • Click the Insert Image icon (looks like a mountain)
  • Enter the URL you copied from the other tab/window
  • Preview again to be sure your do not have GIANT pictures.

If you do have GIANT pictures

  • Remove your attachments and the the image link
  • Resize the picture on your PC. If you are using Windows, Paint will resize them for you. I usually resize down to 50-65% of the original size.
  • Repeat the above steps.

It probably needs changed on you PC, why this happens sometimes, I don't know.

I right clicked you picture and it saved sideways, I then rotated it 90 degrees and resaved it. You should be able to do the same.

When i upload a picture to my album - it is turned on its side. How do i correct that? Here or on my PC?

Thanks - Scott

Are you uploading straight from your iphone or iPad? Something to do with he orientation tag for the pic being lost in the transfer. You'll have to rotate the pic so it displays correctly or take your pictures holding the phone in landscape mode with the home button to the right.
