i have a very small gap on the sides of my garage doors that i would like to seal off. I want something that can go inside along the door, would have to clear the cable. What has everyone been using?

I dont want the seal on the outside.

Here is one solution that works well for a lot of folks.

Thanks, it still seems i would need a seal on the outside which i dont want to do.

Have you considered adjusting the vertical door alignment so the the door is closer to the wall ?

Its adjusted, the gap is only about 3/16". I just want to stop air and bugs coming through.

It's been a problem since there have been Overhead doors. Seems to be the nature of the design. Never seen a seal that goes inside, usually on the outside. Either way, the outside ones I've seen are usually either to stiff a plastic that warps when it gets cold, or the foam kind that don't last long. The only way I've been able to seal infrequently used doors is to clamp them against the frame. PITA to remove the clamps to open the door.

I have more questions than answers.

This.

3/16" is waaaaay to far away from the jamb. I included a couple pictures of a door I hung today. Bright sunny day and hardly any sunlight coming through. No weather strip as you can see by the outside pictures.

If you need Green hinges you bought a **** door or one that is NOT installed correctly.

As far as a inside seal you are asking a bit much at this point. You could try a brush seal with a 45° holder.

Why not install the weatherstripping that goes on the outside?

Commercial doors use a reverse angle track that hold/clips a seal to the jamb from the inside. You do not have the correct track to make that work, but you may be able to also get some thin flat stock, drill it for fasteners and attach them to the wall with the seal on them. That only works on the sides. For the top you would attach a special seal to the top section, and create a seal almost invisible from the outside. No promises, but it may work. Research commercial door seals, clip in seals, j style weatherstrip, many different names.

house has a clean look, smooth stucco and really dont want to screw or nail anything into it. Also the door is dark brown and the house close to white, so the weather strip would stand out more since its not two tone.

Well this is what I came up with.

Bought some garage door seal vinyl with the stripping attached. This stuff is usually used on the outside.

I mounted it against the wall so when the door closes, it rides along it and it presses tightly against it.

I like it. I was thinking of doing the same thing on the inside. And I have the seals on the outside but still get air/light.

Did you do one at the top too?

How is this holding up? I'm tried of mice getting into my garage and would like to try and seal up the sides... my garage is beige/sand, so perhaps sealing from the inside would work better

For mice-you will need a section of steel for the bottom. Youtube for examples.
The other types will not stop mice.
You can paint the outside styles but as you mentioned it will be smooth vs your texture.
Here's a brush style. Used same design on sliding barn doors to help keep snow from coming in the sides. Then it started coming in from the bottom:oops: Not cheap-but they screw in and stay snug.

Frost King at HD-same concept but adhesive.
