Hey guys. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a decent inspection camera. I don't want the USB type. Pricing under 150 preferably. I'll use it for automotive but right now want to use it to look in a wall cavity as well as behind the front slab step to look up at the foundation. Any suggestions?

I purchased a WiFi “******** cam” (my wife nicknamed it) from Amazon to see inside the hull of my dad’s boat while diagnosing a problem. It was about $35 and connects to my phone or iPad. It is one of the smaller 5.5mm barrel models and generally works pretty well within the focal length it’s designed for. I can’t say that other models might be better, but for the price I’m pleased with it.

I was using it side by side with a harbor freight endoscopic cam with a small screen, my WiFi cam yielded better results in most cases.

I bought this Teslong camera almost two years ago (70$ IIRC), it is pretty good overall. The battery life is the only thing that could use some improvement (charges w/ micro USB though). I have found the light that's built in doesnt always work the best, too dim/bright most times so the image isnt clear. Having another light source usually works better anyway. It is very handy for looking in spark plug holes & similar places. I wouldnt want to do without it.

I bought that Teslong camera a couple of years ago as well can confirm that it works okay. It uses a standard 18650 Lithium ion cell, though the battery cover is difficult to remove.

I'm fine with my Milwaukee 2313 M-Spector 360. And with the replaceable/rechargeable M12 battery I always have a handy available power source.

The head rotates to help orient the picture no matter the camera tip position and its a clear image too

There are several power settings for brightness with the built in led lighting, but realize that the camera tip has to be close about 2 inches or less to really what your viewing well unless you use an additional lighting source which will work good to see things from greater distance. Example by shining a flashlight beam down into wall cavity and lighting things up you can easily view a good 4 ft distance or better with the short cable

The 2314 is identical in features but has a 9ft cable instead, and comes with a pipe guide for plumbing/pipe inspection work.

I have used mine quite a bit for different mechanical/automotive inspection to clearly see into difficult spots

Are you going to use it often or infrequently?

AutoZone has the OEM Tools $140 inspection camera / borescope available for loan.

I've had uses for it numerous times and funny enough, this morning. Is the Milwaukee 2315 any good?

I had this Autel camera for about two years.

Nice small inspection head. Poor resolution, poor battery life. Made it hard to identify what I was looking at. I traded it back to the Indy dealer and am still in the hunt for a replacement. I might try finding a used Snappy.

I don’t think the cheaper cameras will have the ability to show you much in a wall cavity. The one I had did not provide a clear picture or allow to see more than a couple feet.

The 2315 inpsection camera kit is like 3x as expensive as your proposed budget in the original post. It has SD card capture and recorded photos can also be directily downloaded by usb cable to an additional device. More features are digital zoom and picture rotation along with brighter lighting

Just as an FYI though it also isn't marketed as bare tool only either

The 2313-20 (bare tool option) is at the top end of your original $150 cap.

Still Milwaukee had one other less expensive option the 2309 kit it uses a plain 9v battery just like many other off brand name cameras do.

Milwaukee 2309, 2313, 2314 all have a 9mm camera end that will fit in most any sparkplug hole, the 2315 is a 12mm camera end. Other brands vary some may even be larger. All depends on your needs

Mechanical usage...generally a shorter cable (3ft) smaller camera end 9mm is satisfactory for many people

Doing something like in construction, maybe turd hunting down a sewer pipe bigger might be better :lol_hitti

I have this one as well, also produced an interesting response from my wife when she got the notification from Amazon that I ordered it... :)

It's worked well for what I have used it for, in all cases it saved me a lot of effort by being able to "see" where I normally couldn't.

I guess after reading about other cameras I'm most concerned with image quality and the light on the end. I found the 2313-21 for $99 shipped new. How good is that model?

I bought the 2313-21 for $99 because it was the last one and didn't want to lose out on the deal. Hopefully I bought a good one! Couldn't find many reviews.
