I'm looking at a screen door to place over our main entry door. We have Hardi Board siding, trim and brickmold on the house. As far as the installation instructions, there are screws that install laterally into the brickmold. The frame for the screen door is a right angle piece of metal that installs over the brickmold. I know hardiboard doesn't have any holding power. Or at least not much. Is there a special screw to use for that?
For the screws that install straight in, I can just get longer ones that go through the hardiboard and into the wood door frame. I figure the screws that install straight in are probably sufficient enough to hold the door. I contacted the company (Larson) and they didn't know or have any suggestions.
