I have recently been shopping for a 36x60x14 pole building with 3 12x12 overhead doors along the 60' eave side and one 36" man door. No windows 1' overhangs traditional pole barn construction.

Anyone in the Midwest have a comparable for installation / crew cost?

First quote came in at $7500
Seams kinda steep since it will likely only take a crew 3-4 days to build.

Yes I could build it, but don't have the time and it would take me probably a year to complete.

Still getting comparable quotes just was curious what others saw.

YES I searched and found not to many discussions on this.

are you talking installation only or install and materials? i did a quick and dirty run down based on a 4 man crew for 3 days and 50% for the company and came up with 13 and change per man hour. doesn't seem all that out of line for labor

I apologize in advance.

I have had three erections that were "installed" that cost me dearly. Don't get me wrong; I would do it again even knowing everything I know. The results of those three erections are my three children. and they are now ages 39, 35 and 34. They have brought me more joy than most anything else in this life, other than my wife, who is an absolute angel. I am the luckiest man alive.

And yes, I was at least married (at the time) to the installee.

Did any of them last longer than four hours? :lol_hitti

The word "install" seems a little strange to me. I install an electric service.....I install software.....I install a dishwasher....but I don't install a pole barn......

$4/sqft for labor seems pretty good if you want it done fast. The bottom line is do you want to devote a year's time to it or pay to have it fly up.

Me? I'd rather work two years on it and know its done correctly. I can't stand to pay someone else and then have to live with shoddy work, because I eventually find it all. And then I get mad knowing that I lost on 2 accounts: paying out money, and having to live with their shoddy work. But that's just me. I love getting out the tools and making something good happen. Not everyone has that love, or the drive to keep it going, and just wants a building up to use, and that's completely understandable. We are all programmed a little differently. :)

Seems like a fair price to me. If anything it would be a bit light considering if you add in company overhead. There's nothing cheap about running a legit business. For my contracting business my hard cost for a journeyman with a company truck was $72 and change an hour based upon a 8 hour day. But we're talking apples and oranges here. I would suggest you also focus on thier qualifications and check out previous projects they completed. Like was pointed out, you don't want a shoddy job.

Well if we're playing the semantics game. The frame work is erected. But the siding and roofing is installed. Just saying. Lol

I just dug my quote out from my garage that I had built in 2011. I know metal (siding and roofing) are a little lower now than then but I'd assume labor is about the same price. I'm in the Newark Ohio area. My building is quoted at 40X64X10 with 1 man door, 6 30"X30" windows, eaves on all 4 sides, R19 insulation, one 16X12 garage door and two 10X10 garage doors. The materials cost was $27,300 and the labor to erect the building was $14,500. This did not include any concrete work, or site prep work. This was through 64 Metals, now Lifespan truss. They subcontract the labor. The materials were of good quality but I wish I had subbed the building erection out myself to somebody more competent.

Thanks for the feedback, yes it is for the building/erection of the shell only.

No concrete, no site work, no electrical.

I am comparing to a build my father had done (yes 12 years ago) but it is the closest relative to have one put up "recently". His is 42x68x14.

ps. knowing this crew I thought that the use of the word "erection" would get more than build costs ;)
