put both up today heres my thoughts on them

I like the clean look and not having to hang the long bar an opener out in the middle of nowhere
They will NOT work with the cable tension sensor jumped (I tryed)
Disconnnect the temporary rope you use to close the doors before you use the opener ,it will rip the optic sensor and wiring off the the rail when it catches on it:shocking:
Program the remote before you do anything (it saves racing up and down the ladder to the wall control at mach speed)
all in all very simple and they work good, pretty quiet although I find that when they slow at the end I keep thinking that somethings going to snap

Why does it slow at the end??
Is it a binding, or do they do an auto-decel on purpose??

They are supposed to slow at the end. Much better than coming to an abrupt stop when the door hits the ground :spit:

The 3800 is a nice unit. Im on my 2nd year with mine, and it is doing great. Only maintenance Ive done to the entire thing is lubing the track occasionally.

That's what I figured, just checking.

If I get my tight **** loosened up I'm thinking about buying at least one for my shop.
Next spring plans are for 2 new doors and openers on the house. That's gonna take some $$$.

Has anyone used the 3900? I can't figure out what the difference between them is by looking at the Liftmaster site, but the 3900 is called a "light commercial" version.
Maybe better for heavier doors?

Same as the 3800 just does not have the deluxe wall control just a single push button, no remote, and no remote lock. Other than that it is exactly the same.
