Installed a Soleus 5000watt, 17,100btu heater installed.

dont post much here, but thought i would share this..
i went to menards yesterday and bought a Soleus 5000w heater, 2 yr warranty for like $220.. i got it mounted and wired up.. i plan on installing a little cheap 2 pole line voltage thermostat later on..
this heater only has an on/off switch.. i used an old tv hanger mount and used it.. you can mount this unit with a lag screw using the smaller black bracket on the perimeter...

i got it all wired up and let it run for a bit, seems to run good and quiet, puts out alot of heat for it's compact size..

i have a simple video of the unit mounted with it turned on and running, i'll post it here in a minute..

i bought it at Menards so i could physically see it and if something happens i can exchange it rather easy..

Looks simple and clean. Post up some degrees/ hour when you can. No 240V for me right now, but maybe by next fall. Good idea with the tv bracket!

started a test run,
44 degrees outside temperature when i started the heater..

temperature in garage was 50deg. when i started the heater

I let heater run for 30 minutes and checked, it was 62 degrees in garage and 42 degrees outside.

i'll go check in another 30minutes and post results.


24x30 insulated garage, the garage door is kind of poorly insulated.

went and checked it again at the 1hr mark..

37 deg. outside temperature,

68degrees inside the garage after one hour of heater running..

I have seen those in the local Meinard's too. A bit cheaper right now than the DaytonFahenheat around here. I am interested in how well it holds up and what it does to your electric bill. Keep us posted.
