Big thanks to all here who have shared details on similar projects as I worked through the process of trying to find the right flooring solution for my 30 year old garage floor. Spent countless hours here reviewing projects and pictures and learning about the options. Really an invaluable resource!

I settled on RaceDeck somewhat last minute due to their responsiveness and support on the sales side and bought their product sight unseen. They were a pleasure to deal with both before and after and always super responsive. It came in on Friday and we got it installed over the weekend.

Of note, this is about phase 7 of trying to bring my aged garage back to life - changed the florescent lights, spec'd and ordered new doors (still outstanding thanks to Covid), cleaned up some drywall and re-painted ceiling and walls, parged and painted the cinder block base of the wall, patched a bunch of cracks and variously cleaned the floor. I should have cut some relief lines in I suppose but can do so down the road given my floor is removable!

It's not perfect, but a bunch nicer place to spend time than it was before.

The RaceDeck was a super fit. My floor is very undulated and stained and I made the call that a covering would be best. The RaceDeck tiles went in very easily save for the odd battle around the perimeter where the floor angles up the last inch or so and made connecting the tiles a bit of a battle. That said, we were fully installed in the double garage in about 6 hours or so including getting everything out and back in. Cut the tiles with a reasonably fine (80 tooth) blade on a my compound mitre saw with no issues.

We lost some time when I decided to change the design a tad and we had to remove and rebuild a big section ;-). I was impressed with how solid the tiles were when connected and yet remain pretty easy to separate when you need to.

Still some work to do but here's are a couple shots.

I should add the colors since trying to figure them out from pictures was a pet peeve of mine, I used Graphite Diamond around the perimeter and in front of the cabinets at the back, and Free Flow in alloy with a single tile black border.

So far the Diamond is a tad "clicky" as my floor really isn't super level and there might be some very minute bowing here and there, but it may settle or worse case I'll work some landscape fabric under it down the road. It's a very small deal though and not super noticeable. Did leave anywhere from 3/4"s to 1/4" of expansion room around the perimeter.

Very nice! How long did it take to receive your order after it was placed?

Hi,

I'm in Canada just west of Toronto (Burlington). I think it took just under two weeks as a couple tiles were back-ordered about a week and shipping took probably the second week. I did intercept the pallet on Friday at the shipping dock to be able to have the tiles for the weekend. I think the shipper lost a couple days making progress across the US, but it's hard to tell.

If they were in stock, I'd hazard a week to 10 days max?

Thanks all. Wish I had some better before pics! The doors tell the story though as they are the remaining items to change - it was all old, green and nasty. Just got an update and I'll have the new ones Dec 1 which is great news.

Kids are keen for some steps too.

Now I need to figure out some heating and how I'm going to hit golf balls in there all winter!

I always enjoy the before/after comparisons. Looks great. My Free Flow install was a bit clicky but that disappeared soon. Parking cars on it I think helped with that. CJDave.

Hi,

Per AppleHedg’s question, we love the floor. The clicking has subsided and the fit is perfect. My kids and I all work out in the garage and in Covid when possible, we sit with the doors open in our 6-10ft apart chairs when catching up with relatives (back in November when that was more acceptable). The floor is great looking and comfortable for all uses and never fails to get positive comments from those who have seen it (admittedly small list!)

No issues at all with the cold, and the few times I’ve run the snow blower out, the freeflow lets you walk on the ties in sock feet 10 minutes later.

Only downside is we’ve dropped eggs in the freeflow a couple times and that’s a challenging clean ;-). I think I need to extend my solid tiles out in front of the fridge a bit.

Would do it again in a heartbeat.
