Installed RaceDeck today...

So this is my first GJ post. I just installed RaceDeck today and the installation experience - the whole RaceDeck experience - has been so great, I had to post.

Here is a recap of my experience:

The online design tool was a ton of fun.

The ordering process was effortless. Special thanks to Shauna at RaceDeck!

The quality of the tiles? Fantastic.

But the real treat was installation. Like many have said before, it was quick. It took me about 4 hours to install 614 square feet of tile, complete with cut/trim pieces. And that 4 hours was full of a lot of breaks and distractions. In fact one of those distractions was a visit from my neighbors who wanted to see what I was up to. They couldn't believe that I was able to install the entire floor in one evening. I could hear one say to the other as they were walking away ... "that looked awesome".

I've attached a simple pic here, and will post better pics of the entire garage later this week.

Congrats! I pulled the trigger and ordered my 626 sq ft. Racedeck Freeflow tile floor last week. The packages are scheduled to arrive Thursday and I'm planning a Saturday installation.

For your cuts, what kind of tool did you use? Jigsaw? I have four concrete support posts I need to cut the tiles around, however the rest of the floor should be pretty simple.

I used a table saw for the long runs. Use your "sample" tile if you requested one to test whether you should cut them face up or face down for the best result. Jig saw should work fine for the more complex cuts. I used a band saw.

I have my order placed too. I bought a 140 tooth blade for my radial arm saw. I also bought the weed block to deaden the sound which may or may not be an issue but for $40 why not I figured.

On a side note, how do you like your 328i? I'm in the market for a new daily driver business car and I have the 335i sport on my short list along with the Cadillac ATS. I drove the new Infiniti Q50 last weekend, however it seems Infiniti is leaning more towards technology and luxury vs. a true sports sedan.

Thanks. I think I will only need to make 4-5 L-shaped corner cuts to fit around the concrete support blocks. Luckily I don't have round poles supporting the ceiling, so they should be easy cuts. I just bought some fine-tooth saw blades as well as a jigsaw guide to help keep the cuts straight.

I've got 680 sq ft arriving tomorrow. Have to paint first but trying to get it all done by Thursday so we can start moving on Friday. Trying to find a small table saw on Craigslist to use for the cuts. I guess I'll give a regular blade a try and then go to a thin kerf if necessary.

I like the look of going with four tiles for one colour, looks much less busy that way. But it only works if you have a big garage such as you have.

I'm happy with the 328i. Impressed with the performance of the BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder and couldn't justify the price difference for the 6 cyl. It has plenty of get up and go. You can't go wrong with either of your choices, but here is a good video that compares the BWM 3 to the ATS.

Thanks for the link. The cars are incredibly close in many ways. BMW is the segment leader and I think most reviewers are just completely surprised by the Cadillac. I guess it comes down to personal taste. Both the 4-cylinder turbo and the 3.2 6-cylinders are great engines and I guess Cadillac will be introducing a twin turbo in early 2014 to compete with the M3.

Nice garage floor! And, a couple of nice cars, but it's ok to go ahead & confess......you *really* like the MX-5! I'm not being a smart ***, I have both a 328iC & an MX-5. Yeah, the 328 is a good car. When we take a trip that we want comfort on, or when we just want to ride in luxury, we take the BMW. But when we want FUN the MX-5 is the winner hands down!

Either way, nice floor, two nice cars, & a good lookin' garage. Sometimes life is just good!.........

Hey bud, your floor looks awesome!! I did my Racedeck install back in August & I still have a HUGE smile everytime I go in the garage to work on the cars that my fiancee & I park in there (weekend cars; my '06 Mustang GT that's really modded and her '69 Camaro ). Racedeck just transforms a garage SO MUCH!! I'm so glad I went with it vs epoxy. I like your colors too. Very cool!! Your the talk of your neighborhood once they saw it. Great job.
