I've got a nat gas furnace with a propane conversion kit and a 5 ton condensing unit that I'd like to get installed in my 40x60x16 steel building. I've run the electrical (60 amp w/disconnect + 15 amp for furnace/control) but need someone to install the propane conversion (factory parts) and install it all. It's all new stuff - not used/pulled.

Anyone have someone they trust to do HVAC work in my area? I'm not looking for bargain billy's half in the bag boiler business..but not looking to get raked over the coals either. Looking for good work at fair pricing..

My last home heat pump came from www.reshomeservices.com. I thought they were priced fairly, but more importantly was that they tolerated my questions and answered them nicely. Like others on GJ, I have some knowledge of what I want and what they’re doing, and they were very nice in answering my questions and concerns. I never got the impression that they were annoye, which seems like a red flag at least for me.

I think they’d be willing to work with you, but I don’t know if they do this type of install.

www.reshomeservices.com won't - like many places - install 'customer-provided equipment' :(

any other thoughts or suggestions? i don't really want this project on my docket - i have more than enough, and while the furnace side of it probably isn't too big of a deal, the refrigeration side...outside my wheelhouse.

Any hvac contractor or installer can change the furnace over to lp. Most contractors won't install your equipment or offer any warrantee.

i'm fine with with the no warranty aspect; thats not an issue. so far i just haven't found anyone who will do it at all.

at this point, i'm guessing i'm going to need someone willing to do it as side work, which i'm totally fine with. there is no ductwork that needs doing (besides the return base for a filter). furnace will need a penetration of the building for exhaust, but its one of the high efficiency units that can use pvc all the way, so nothing crazy there.

You do know if you are at all capable and can read you can do much of this yourself. Even the gas conversion is simple. Just read the manual! I know HVAC guys that can not do it properly because they are too smart to read the manual. All the info you need for the install came in the box with the equipment. The only restrictions are what you have for tools. Most guys might not have a torch to do the line set, and a vacuum pump, but the rest is pretty straight forward.

Any duct work you need can be bought the home center or the local sheet metal shop can bend it up.
