I am working on installing a 75K BTU Beakon Morris heater in my garage. I have run in to a snag that has me stumped.

The heater will be vented horizontially, as I don't want any more holes in my roof. The thimble is all ready to be installed, have the hole cut through the drywall for it and the back of the exterior sheathing marked out. Just need to cut through and install the other half of the thimble and the flue pipe.

Where I'm stumped is what do I put around the flue going through the wall and the vinyl siding on the exterior of the garage?

The wall thimble should be double-wall pipe. This reduces the heat by quite a bit. There should be a "face" to each side of the galvanized steel, which you can trim out on the vinyl side with j channel or other products. For safety reasons, you cannot cut down or trim OVER the thimble faces, though they do not get "hot" under anywhere near normal operating conditions.

So basically just finish around the thimble(outside diameter) with J-channel and cut the siding accordingly? I can do that.

I might have to try to find a different thimble then, the one I have is round on the outside diameter, could be hard to get the J channel to fit that nicely.

I just had one installed, and the vinyl siding installers were here at the same time and were very particular about what to do where the pipe exited the wall.

I will post some pics tomorrow, if you would like.
