I'm finishing up my sheathing and I'm getting ready to start the roofing. Does anyone have any recomendations on brands or styles off metal roofs? Does anyone have a good link on how to install a metal roof?
Thanks!

I had a local place roll my panels out one morning, and picked them up that afternoon. Only advice I can give is to make sure you get the first piece square.
Took me a week to do my roof by myself (30x48)

We used Ultravic roofing from Vic-west. They have lots of tips on their website. http://www.vicwest.com/en/residential/products/steel-roofing/ultravic dunno if you can get it where you are, we bought it through Home Despot, came with all the little bits & pieces we needed. My bro in law and I installed all the steel in 2 afternoons on a 24x31 garage. They say you don't need to sheath the roof with steel but I couldn't figure out how else to do it so we sheathed it and used the 1x4 strapping on 18" c/c, we also Typared it before the strapping. Looks great, matches the house, 40 YEAR guarantee on colour!

We actually had these guys put the cladding on a headframe that we built in New Brunswick, 100m in the air!!!

I can tell you without reservation WEAR A SAFETY BELT when installing the roof!!! I did, thinking I wouldn't need it, but twice I hit the deck. Both times without warning. Glad I had the belt around me.

If your roof has any pitch to it, any debris at all like sawdust will cause it to be extremely slick. A trick...go to the store and buy one of the big liter bottles of Coke or Pepsi. Get the high test stuff, not diet. Go up on the roof, shake the bottle violently and loosen the cap and let it spray all over where you are walking. It will really help your feet to stick to the roof. First time it rains, it all washes away.

Good luck. I installed mine (see my profile page) by myself and it all worked out ok. You'll want to get a metal cutting blade for your circular saw and a stick of wax to lube the blade, but the rest of it is quite straightforward.

Any old plywood blade or even a combo blade put in the saw backwards will cut metal roof or vinyl siding easily without trouble.

Go to metal sales amnufacturing web site. They have documents on different styles, trim details, installation etc... If you have specific trim install questions go to Michiana Building Supplies website. They have detailed drawings also. For rake and gable end details(where soffit, rake, etc) meet search the web, I had a few detailed drawings but as usual I can't locate them on the old PC.
