I bought a used Reznor UDAP250 and I am getting ready to install it. My building is a red iron 40x60x18. I am trying to figure out how to hang it and where. Corners or endwall? Obviously, I have a long drop from the roof to mount at 14-16 feet. Cantilever off the girts? Suspend from the purlins? Any photos are appreciated

I just had your Reznor's baby brother installed in my garage. I put it in the corner so it blows away from the doors, which is the biggest source of air infiltration. It'll be a little drafty near the doors but the working area should be nice and toasty

My Reznor had threaded holes in the top of the cabinet to support it, but it looks like you'll need some way to extend all-thread to reach the ceiling in your building. The guy that installed it just used unistrut laying across the bottom member of the trusses to suspend the unit

Thanks for the photo. Nice install. I can definitely use threaded rod like yours. I would need to add couplers to extend the length. I would probably do a length to a horizontal unistrut, then rod to the next level.

Depending only on Gravity to keep something from moving during a seismic event is, in my opinion. a poor idea.

I am not considering seismic activity. I will use flexible connections for electrical and LPG

Interesting. Compelled me to look into seismic event probability

In my corner of AZ, the probability of a significant seismic event is 2-4 occurrences every 10000 years. In your location, however it is something greater than 250 events every 10000 years - I see why this is on your mind.

Nevertheless, the HVAC installer is at the house next week to service my heaters and I'll ask him if he screwed the Unistrut to the trusses.

I do know there is a non-zero risk of me falling on my **** or through the ceiling if i go up into the attic to check his work.

Thanks for the input.

I think I am going to hang from the purlin after backing the purlin with a 5' length of uni-strut. Four all threads down to an "H" uni-strut assembly and then a section of threaded to the unit.
