Installing appliance adapter onto me heater flue

the appliance adapter that I have for my mr heater big Maxx slips over my flue, is this right or is it suppose to slip into the flue? There is screw holes on my flue so that is what’s having me wonder

It's better to have the adapter fit inside the flue pipe (same for all subsequent connections)

Ok, well that would make sense, now does the b vent just twist together?

It fits over the pipe coming from furnace,then in goes inside of next piece of pipe and continues that way.
