Hello everyone, I'm looking for info regarding codes related to garage heat.
I've already purchased an 80K Mr Heater and vertical vent kit and some CSST for starters.
Here are some design questions I've got:
What are setbacks for vertical vent from interior and exterior walls?
Does code allow for fishing the CSST from basement up the garage wall to just below garage ceiling height?
Existing gas connection in LL mech room doesn't really have a manifold to add a gas connection, just an open plug from the fireplace and range connections, is that OK to just come off that with CSST conversion?
Is there a doc that covers all the pertinent details?
Any help appreciated
Anthony

FWIW, my LPG supplier was very explicit that I had to put black iron pipe in the enclosed walls or they wouldn't hook me up to their tank.

No copper, no flex... black iron pipe.

I’ve been on the same mission to find some of the same answers as you recently. For vertical vent placement, look up the 10/2 rule. Pretty cut and dry and standard for most of the country.

Gas is tricky because of the varied codes. My house built in 2018 is all CSST, from the meter, to a manifold, and throughout the house, including up through walls. If your area allows this, it’s VERY important to learn how to run it properly and make the connections correctly according to the brands specifications. They are all different.
