I'm getting ready to install a heater/ac unit in my garage and I want to install it in the wall vs the window. I need to cut a wall stud in order to frame an opening for the unit. Is this going to cause a problem in my wall before I can get it framed out? The wall I want to install it on has the ends of the ceiling joist resting on it. Or should I put it in the wall where the whole A frame rest on the wall. I hope I made this clear enough for ya'll to give me some info.

I'm not a builder professionally, but here's how I would tackle this.

You need to carry the load down to the floor, around the air conditioner, similar to how you'd frame a door or window - lookup "window framing" at the library or on the web to get information on that. You should be able to temporarily brace the ceiling while you do the work.

Yep, frame the opening like you would a window or door with a header and jack/king studs to take the load to the floor around the heater.
