Installing louvers/vents in metal utility building

Hello,

I am the new owner of a 30y old metal roof/walled pole building. I'm not sure who designed it, but I think with the roof leaks and single large door, it's become humid like a greenhouse. I open the big door when I can to air it out (and reduce my tools turning to rust) but clearly it needs some ventilation and the leaks fixed.

The building is made from 6x6" poles on 8' centers and 2x4" horizontals on 24" centers. The skin is some kind of textured metal panels similar to Tuff-Rib. It's definitely not heavy duty stuff. It's 36' wide by 80' long and probably 16' tall on the sides. The door is 12' wide and centered on a 36' end.

So I could call a contractor and watch them do it or attempt it myself. I figure I can only do so much damage and learn something so:
- What kind of louvers/vents could I buy?
- Can I simply cut into the metal skin and frame in the 2x4's to hold the vent?
- Where might I consider installing them?

Thanks,

David

Location
Long Beach CA, the sewer by the sea.
High and low between the girts. It's hard to lay up against the ribbing, so you will have to fab up some flashing. Try to get something with a box construction. This one you could make some L flashing for.

Seems straightforward enough. I'll start at the end of the building where nothing important is stored below.
