I need to install 4 LED fixtures on one 15A circuit. Looking for the basics to lay out and run the wire (garage ceiling), install boxes through 7/16" OSB, connecting through re-fitted florescent fixtures.

google seem to just pull up mostly entertainment how-to videos.

Keeping up to basic codes preferred.

Any help appreciated.

What's your existing lighting situation? Pictures of the garage? Give us that info and we will get you set up

The blue plastic boxes typically have 2 common nails in them, presumably you have access from above (the attic).

Obviously some measuring and planning, then use the box to mark a clearance hole. Can use a number of saws from hand to jigsaws to saw along the lines. A drilled hole makes this easier.

The boxes are connected in daisy chain fashion. Each box should have 2 - NM jacketed wires into them except the last and the first.

Group the black wires, the white wires and the bare wires to include your fixture leads corresponding and use wire nuts. Power off and make the final termination to the existing power. Note I assumed you have existing power somewhere, or is this running a switch as well and back to the breaker panel?

Its kind of a basic question and if you have to ask it, should seek help from a knowledgeable friend or a paid professional to do it or to mentor you thru.

It's a three car garage, with the Single car side already have a 3 fluorescent quads wired up to the standard wall switch. I am adding on a separate circuit o 4 quads of LED tubes. Otherwise the garage wiring is an inherited kluge with the main wiring Power source extension cord going to an outside outlet on the house. I'm going to put in underground line from the house into 100 amp box but for now I just want to get the led lights wired up.

Not sure if any of the current light wiring is proper or not.

one question is how to run the wires in the ceiling. I was just going to run them across the joists close to the outside soffit as possible. Do I need to do something different?

Somewhere I thought they needed to be stapled to a solid flat surface. I have a couple of "how to" books, but of course they don't cover that part.

Staples to the top of he joist using the correct staples.

I really think you need to find someone who knows what they are doing to come give you a hand with this.
