Anyone know a trick for installing retaining rings. The kind that look like a lock washer. To hot to be chasing it around the shop. What are this type called?

Thanks Jim

I can think of a couple that may look like a lock washer.

You have a photo?

If the item is small you can do it in a really big freezer bag so the clip don't fly across the room.

This one is about 1/8 thick with a 5/8 bore looking exactly like a lock washer. Has small gap no over lap and a slight spiral twist. Sorry no photos

gap or not you should still be able to twist it on, sometimes you may need a hammer and a punch to 'encourage' it to turn

Is it going around a shaft? If so, try a deep socket that just fits over the shaft to use to guide the ring on with the light tap of a hammer. That'll keep it from popping and flying.
