I'm looking for step by step instructions for posting photos.

I found one thread in the "suggestions" forum, but it started out by helping a guy who was having trouble half-way through the process, then went on to other methods. Was confusing to try to figure out which "advice" applied to which method of posting them, plus it never covered the first part of the process.

I'm using Windows.

Seems anything showing skin is not allowed and for some reason frowned upon, lol

I would interested to learn how to post From my iphone.
Download Tapatalk, search- garage journal, click it

When you post there'll be a paperclip icon, click that, choose picture and post away!

OK,
The space where your typing there's a ^, to the left, that gives you options where paperclip thing is located.
This is for an android, but your inferior apple product should function similarly. Lol

There should be something that says attachments... I think it's by the smiley faces, maybe looks like a portrait.
I mostly use my phone which is why I mentioned tap.
Click it and find the folder the pic is in

Should be able to mouse over, and it will say attachments, don't click just put the arrow over the options to see what they are

This guy's never going to get a pic posted now lol
Good job man!

It makes the forum more mobile friendly, I haven't had any issues with it.

This is what I see...

Come on guys, this shouldn't be that hard.

I don't use my phone or tap-a-phone so telling me how to post pictures via those are wasting everyone's time.

I hate to be a pain, but my request was:

"I'm looking for step by step instructions for posting photos." ( From a PC )

Give this a try -
After you click on Post Reply and write some text, scroll down to the Manage Attachments buttons and click on that. A second window will pop up, where you can browse your hard drive, select, and then upload the photos you want to include. Make sure they sized properly - if they're right off your digital camera they're probably be too large. 800 x 600 or maybe 1024 x 768 is about as big as they should be. After you click on the upload button wait for the picture file names to appear in the 'current attachments' blank.

After that's done, close that popup window and you can then enter the post.

If you use the attachments button it will upload a thumbnail at the end of your post, if you want to load a full size pic or have it appear within the post you need to go another route - there are two easy ways to do this:

1) Save your photos on a photo site like photobucket or flikr, then click the picture icon in your reply post header -when the dialog box opens copy/paste the HTML code into the dialog box and click OK, the pic will appear where you had your cursor in the text of your post.

2) Save your photo in an album here on the GJ site, then follow the same instructions

As mentioned before, photos are best if resized to 600X800

An example from one of my albums here on GJ:

View media item 46329
The advantage to saving them on the GJ server is they'll never disappear from your post due to the links being changed or the photo server doing an update or some such - which happens all the time. I used to copy pics over from my Facebook page, but found they disappear from my posts in a few weeks, even tho they're still there on my Facebook page - pissed me off when I found that out! Now I have to resource all those photos in my threads.

I know I've typed these instructions out at least 5 times on this site and I really wonder why a search won't find them.

Edit: a quick search found these threads....

These were all on the first two pages of my search returns - I put "uploading photos" in as search topic, so I'm officially calling ******** on all those people who type in "I searched but couldn't find anything on......."

If they can't post a pic, what in the world makes you think the can utilize the search option!?

Well, I sympathize with folks who don't have a lot of experience using a computer, there are still plenty of them out there believe it or not, but when they say they searched and I get this many returns using the same topic, I think they were just too lazy to go read.

So maybe rather than explaining how to do what they're wanting, we teach them how to search instead?

At any rate, I hope the OP will stick around and post up the pics now that he wanted too.....
