Get the truss company to build your scissor with a raised energy heel. That gives you the room for R38 all the way to the plate line including venting.

I'll be using Icenyne open cell foam insulation in my next house. The different foam insulation that are available are a fair more expensive than blown in insulation, but perform much much better.

We had to have fiberglass batts on our scissor trusses instead of blown in, inspector said blown in will slide/settle downhill over time and wouldn't allow it.

How glad am I that we have great weather in RSA, I have scissor trusses, exposed with no ceiling nor any insulation, gets a bit got in the 40+ deg c, but then I put the fan on or open the tree doors.

I thought foam insulation had to be sprayed on and wasn't set up as a DIY option yet??? If someone's done this as a DIY please tell us where you got everything you needed. Thanks

thanks guys had anybody done a blown in foam insulation?

I'd like to see some detail of that too...I have half a shop of scissor trusses that need insulating. The tip on truss design is a great one...just 6 years too late for me.
