Insul-Tarp .... good or not ??

While researching for information to help with my addition project, I have read both good and bad about this product. Someone stated that it has an R value of 10 where-as another stated that it isn't all it's cracked up to be and that it isn't possible for a 1/2 (actual 3/8") of material to produce that high of an insulation value.

What's the thoughts from people on here ???

If its bubble wrap with aluminum foil, its a joke. Use 2" styrofoam

CMHC tested bubble wrap under a slab vs no insulation vs foam and the bubble wrap produced zero benefit. Foam board is the way to go under a slab.

Apparently that foil bubble wrap works ok above grade where there is sun exposure.

Its a product that was made to put over concrete when curing in cold weather. If you Google it you will find this - http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/0823062/index.shtm - The Gub'ment as in the Federal Trade Commission poo-poo'ed their R value ratings. Not to mention it costs as much a real insulation.

I inquired about it prior to doing my shop. Apparently the main reason a contractor would prefer using it is to save labor. It can be unrolled and put in place very quickly.

I went with the 2" foam.
